BAKED GOODS IN SAM FRENCH off-off broadway short PLAY FESTIVAL
My ten minute musical, Baked Goods, will be performed at the Sam French festival this August! Helen, Charlie, Collin and I are so excited to re-visit this project and can't wait to see the other plays in the festival. We are the first show of the first performance of the festival - hope to see you there!
THE LIGHTS BEFORE CHRISTMAS AT BRYANT PARK
"The Lights Before Christmas" is a Christmas poem that Bank of America commissioned me to write for the Bryant Park Tree Lighting Skate-Tacular. The poem will be read by Jane Krakowski at the Christmas celebration on Friday, December 1st.
BAKED GOODS IN CITY THEATRE'S SUMMER SHORTS
BAKED GOODS is currently being performed from June 1st to July 2nd by the City Theatre at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in Miami! We've loved working with City Theatre and can't wait to see the performance later this month. Our favorite quote about this production comes from Rod Hagwood of Miami's Sun Sentinel, "It's about a girl scout who's the worst girl scout and can't sell cookies, and it makes me pee in my pants every time."
READING OF THE PRINCE & THE WOOGLEFOOF
This month, we embarked on our exciting journey with Ask Yourself Productions LLC, who has optioned THE PRINCE & THE WOOGLEFOOF. Along with producer Michael Ian Cedar and director Samantha Saltzman, we assembled a wonderful group of actors for a table reading of the show. It was great to hear the show aloud with the team!
CONTEMPORARY CHRISTMAS @ THE DUPLEX
I produced a concert of contemporary Christmas music at The Duplex this holiday season with producer and actress, Charissa Bertels. Many classic Christmas songs were written by musical theatre writers, and I really wanted to bring back that tradition. You can check out videos of the two songs Anthony De Angelis and I wrote for the performance, "The Windows on Fifth Avenue" and "Christmas All Year Round" on the Videos page.
APPEARANCE IN SONG FOUNDRY VIDEO PROJECT
I had a wonderful time shooting videos for The Song Foundry video project with Ed Bell. This video series teaches songwriters about the technical side of songwriting and also discusses the nuances of being a creative artist. I was thrilled that Ed asked me to join him on this project! The video below is about lyric writing essentials.
BAKED GOODS PERFORMED IN SOUND BITES FESTIVAL
BAKED GOODS was performed in the Sound Bites 3.0 festival on January 18th, and was a huge success. Helen and I were thrilled to see the show come to fruition, and had a great experience working with the Theatre Now New York team to bring this production to life.
BAKED GOODS ACCEPTED IN SOUND BITES FESTIVAL
BAKED GOODS has been accepted into the Sound Bites festival! It will be performed on January 18th along with 9 other ten-minute musicals and musical excerpts. Helen and I wrote this show in May 2014, and are very excited to get it “on its feet” for the first time.
RECORDING THE PRINCE AND THE WOOGLEFOOF
After a year and a half of writing (and re-writing), we recorded the entirety of THE PRINCE & THE WOOGLEFOOF. With the help of a few amazing singers (and many snacks), we recorded the show in about 8 hours. Unless you’re in rehearsals for a show, you rarely get to hear your work sung by incredible singers- it’s always a real treat!
TIME FOR A WRITER'S RETREAT!
This September, Anthony, Jessica and I headed up to Maine for a writer’s retreat. This was the first retreat our team has been on, and it was extremely productive. We cranked out new songs and re-writes that usually take us days or weeks to write in the course of hours. We left with a brand new draft of the show, and can’t wait to go on another retreat!
ADMISSION INTO ADVANCED BMI WORKSHOP
On June 9th, 2015, my composer, Anthony DeAngelis, and I presented four songs from THE PRINCE & THE WOOGLEFOOF at the BMI Musical Theatre Workshop. Based on this performance, we were both accepted into the Advanced BMI Workshop, where we will continue to work on this show and other projects beginning this fall.
