Christyn Budzyna is a musical theatre lyricist based in New York City. She was the recipient of the 2017 City Theatre National Award for Short Playwriting for her work on BAKED GOODS. This musical, with music by Helen Park, was performed at the 2016 Sound Bites Festival, the 2017 City Theatre’s Summer Shorts Festival, and will be performed this August at the Sam French Off-Off Broadway Short Play Festival.
Her family musical, THE PRINCE AND THE WOOGLEFOOF, with music by Anthony De Angelis and book by Jessica Penzias, will debut in Philadelphia in the fall of 2018 as part of Stimulus Children’s Theatre’s 30th anniversary season. The trio is also working on a musical adaptation of the history of the founders of Spiritualism, the Fox Sisters.

Last winter, Christyn was commissioned by Bank of America to write a holiday poem, “The Lights Before Christmas.” It was performed by Jane Krakowski at the Bryant Park Tree Lighting Skate-tacular.
Her work has been seen in many venues around the city, including the Laurie Beechman Theater, The Duplex, and NYMF. She is a member of the Advanced BMI Musical Theatre Workshop, and of the Dramatists Guild. Christyn has a passion for writing code as well as writing musicals, and works as a web developer for The Public Theater.
